Wolverley Animal Centre is the schools very own animal education facility located on site.

Our bespoke centre delivers Animal Care courses to students and houses over 30 species of animal. 

Students undertaking our BTEC Animal Care qualification complete three units; Animal Handling, Animal Accommodation & Housing and Animal Health & Welfare across two years. During the course students get the opportunity to feed, water, groom, handle, exercise and health check all our animals including goats, meerkats, lizards, snakes, chinchillas, sugar gliders and more. Species housed include exotic, farm and companion allowing us to teach a range of skills.

The centre is run by a team of qualified and experienced animal care staff who ensure we are always working to the highest industry standards of practice. Our centre is also part of the School Farm Network who provide specialist support for UK schools housing animals and we are passionate about providing a stress free environment for our animals.  

Whether students are looking to go onto higher education, zoo keeping, rescue and rehabilitation, pet retail or animal education, staff at the centre are able to provide progression support using our industry links.

The centre not only delivers accredited qualifications but provides a sanctuary for students to come and develop their communication skills and confidence. Many cross-curricular lessons take place at the centre; measuring and weighing animals in Maths, writing animal based poetry in English, learning animal names in Spanish and so much more. Our school Step Up group also attend the centre weekly, and we are built to provide the best possible learning environment for SEND learners.

Housing a diverse range of species, some with complex needs, allows us to facilitate our partnership with Kidderminster College. Learners up to Level 4 attend our centre to complete the practical elements of their college course.
