Key Stage 4

What subjects does we study?

In Years 10 and 11 all students follow a common core which consists of:

  • GCSE English Language
  • GCSE English Literature
  • GCSE Maths
  • GCSE Science (Combined)
  • GCSE History, GCSE Ancient History or GCSE Geography
  • GCSE Spanish*
  • Core Physical Education
  • Core PSHE**

*The vast majority of students study Spanish. Occasionally, some students may perform better across the curriculum with a slightly different programme of study - in these few cases, students will be offered an alternative. 

**Core PSHE - this is delivered in bespoke collapsed sessions so that students benefit from specialist teachers and guest speakers.

In addition to the core subjects, there is a wide range of optional subjects, including:

  • GCSE Art and Design
  • GCSE Business Studies
  • GCSE Computer Science
  • GCSE Drama
  • GCSE DT: Product Design
  • BTEC Enterprise
  • GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition
  • NCFE Graphic Design
  • BTEC/GCSE Music (to suit the cohort of students who opt)
  • BTEC Performing Arts (Dance)
  • GCSE Physical Education
  • GCSE Religious Studies
  • BTEC Sport
  • GCSE Triple Science

Students who do not study Spanish, also have an additional option from:

  • BTEC Animal Care
  • NCFE Graphic Design
  • BTEC Health and Social Care
