Favourite subject at school

I loved finding out how things work and really enjoyed physics and DT for this. I also enjoy being outside and always looked forward to PE lessons and any fieldwork to do with geography or geology.

Hobbies

I am an avid sportsman. My top three are football, rugby (alas not playing any more) and especially cricket. I often challenge myself to get a little fitter as each new season gets closer and usually start long distance running and have completed the Black Country half marathon and the Birmingham half marathon multiple times.

About me:

I am married with 3 children.

I grew up in Blackburn, going to Pleckgate High School then St Marys Sixth Form College. I moved down to the West Midlands in the late 1990s after attending, firstly, Leeds University to study geology before moving to Manchester University to study maths and teaching. Since moving to the West Midlands I have worked in schools across Wolverhampton, Halesowen and Birmingham before joining Wolverley in 2015.

After more than 20 years of teaching, the best thing still is when you see a ‘lightbulb’ moment, where a student confidently shows their understanding and completes tricky problems that they hadn’t been able to do before.
